Meet Myrto Daskaloudi
Myrto (she/her) is a community herbalist, second-generation astrologer & tarot reader, dancer, teacher, and mother. She is passionate about supporting birthing people throughout pregnancy and beyond with handcrafted herbal medicines inspired by her Mediterranean heritage.
My Background
My connection to nature, astrology, and the invisible worlds grew from my multicultural upbringing in the beautiful mountains, forests, and rivers of Mahican territory/Upstate NY.
At eight years old, my mom placed a kid’s astrology book in my hands and I instantly fell in love. As I grew up, I learned astrology with her through oral teachings and her love of classic astrology texts in our home. In adulthood, I began searching for a teacher to continue studying with and found Atmo Abrahm, who taught me her earthy perspective of stars and seasons. My astrology practice is also greatly influenced by astrologers like Liz Greene and Demetra George. I currently practice somewhat of a blend of astrological mediums, incorporating traditional and modern concepts into my practice, with a focus on astrological herbalism and Greek mythology.
My mom also passed on the art of tarot to me, teaching me how to read the cards when I was an adult. In addition to our shared practice, I also studied tarot with Chanelle of Moon by Moons Apothecary in North Carolina and Tatianna Tarot during my time living in New Orleans. After doing some training and getting my own decks, my Mom and I often do cards together and I have learned a lot from her intuitive eye. All in all, I have my Mom to thank for cultivating my strong intuition and psychic abilities.
I am also a trained community herbalist, having studied with some of the best teachers in the US at the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism in Montpelier, VT. My studies at VCIH and my Health Arts & Science degree from Goddard College influence my multidisciplinary approach. At Goddard, my senior thesis wove together Anti-Racist Education, Decolonization, and the great need for more earth-based education and remembering of traditional medicine ways. As a first-generation Ashkenazi-Greek American (+ Anatolian & Greco-Calabrian), this perspective is incredibly important to my work and these lineages continue to guide my work here through Moons of Aphrodite.
I look forward to connecting with you through the stars, plants, story, and movement.
